Veronica Rosa says. “She brings
strategic insight, enthusiasm,
expertise, and genuine passion to
every project she leads. She’s a true
joy to work with, and I’m excited to
watch her continue to shine and grow
throughout her career.”
The Young Professional of the Year
award recognizes individuals who
contribute to CYPN and also make
meaningful contributions to the
greater Concord community. Billups
actively promotes philanthropy among
young professionals, volunteers with
Special Olympics New Hampshire,
serves on the board for the Mary Gale
Foundation, and makes time for other
charitable causes.
“I think more young people need
to know why philanthropy is
important, ” Billups says, explaining
her motivation.
While philanthropy wasn’t her original
career plan — Billups earned a B.S.
in health and rehabilitation studies
at Springfield College and a master’s
in higher education from Boston
College — she found her calling
after unexpectedly taking a role in
development at Saint Anselm College,
a field she did not know much about.
“I found that I really enjoyed working
with a greater mission,” Billups explains.
In her role with the Trust, Billups finds
fulfillment in working with donors
who make transformational gifts. She
notes that connecting with those who
“really want to make that difference”
is particularly rewarding, sharing one
story of receiving a gift that helped
with the purchase of lifesaving
equipment for patients at the hospital.
Billups is modest about her award
selection, sharing, “I don’t know why
me over anybody else.” She praises
the other young professionals in
Concord, who are equally invested
in the community, and says their
commitment makes being chosen
as the Young Professional of the Year
even more meaningful.
“It definitely means a lot to me, and
I think it makes me understand that
people are listening,” Billups says. “The
more I can do now to build the future
for things like local health care, the
more the things we’re all doing are
going to create a better world.”
