The Alosa Family’s 100-Year Legacy
Dating back more than 100 years to
1919, multiple generations of Carol
Alosa’s family have been born at
Concord Hospital.
It began with Carol’s mother and
her seven siblings at what was then
Margaret Pillsbury Hospital. Carol
and her late husband, Joe, a former
member of the Concord Hospital
Board of Trustees, were also born at
Margaret Pillsbury. And the couple
welcomed all four of their children
at Concord Hospital.
“It’s amazing that so many generations
of my family have benefited from
the hospital,” says Carol, a longtime
Concord resident whose family owns
and operates New England Kenworth.
When her first child was born in 1963,
Carol recalls that her husband was not
permitted inside the delivery room, but
she has witnessed many changes in her
years of affiliation with what is now
The Family Place.
“Now grandparents are allowed,”
Carol says. “I remember when my last
granddaughter was born in 1997; they
asked me to be there. I walked into the
room just before she was ready to be
delivered.” Ten years earlier, in 1987,
Carol also had the opportunity to be
in the delivery room when her kids’
babysitter gave birth to her first child.
With all six of her grandchildren
beginning their lives at Concord
Hospital, The Family Place continues to
hold special meaning for Carol. Because
of this connection, Carol and the Alosa
family have been generous supporters,
including donations for upgrades
to The Family Place, Payson Center
for Cancer Care, and Cardiovascular
Institute. The family also gave a
significant gift to help establish the
Rooftop Healing Garden.
Carol sees the multi-generational
association as a reason to support
the hospital, particularly The Family
Place, where her own family has
experienced so many new beginnings
and new chapters.
“It’s important for the community to
support their local hospital,” Carol
says, “as everyone will eventually need
its services.”
