b'Barbara Coons knew she needed back surgery but had been reluctant to schedule it. When she learned that Glenn Lieberman, MD, was now affiliated with Concord Hospital - Laconia (CH-L), she didnt hesitate. The 79-year-old Gilford resident had previously undergone a lumbar fusion performed by Dr. Lieberman in 2018. When Our Impact back pain returned this past winter, affecting her ability to walk with friends and manage other daily tasks without pain, she knew exactly who she wanted to see.HEALING I kept saying, I have to do something, but I dont want to see anybody but Dr. Lieberman, Coons recalls. I knew if I saw him, hed know what to do because hes the best.COMES Now recovering well from her September 2025 procedure to remove a synovial cyst, Coons is grateful for the quality of care she received from Lieberman and the staff in Laconia.FULL CIRCLE A Philadelphia native, Lieberman first arrived in New Hampshire in 1999, drawn by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a smaller community. After completing a trauma fellowship in Columbus, Ohio, he realized he wanted something different. Although hed never even been to New England, he and his wife visited the Lakes Region and fell in love with the community, and he joined Orthopedic Professional Association(later rebranded as Advanced Orthopedic Specialists) in the LRGHealthcare system in August 1999. When Concord Hospital (CH) acquired the Lakes Region system in 2021, Liebermans practice pivoted, and he spent the next few years travelingto treat patients in multiple locations throughout the state. However, the opportunity to be part of building something new in his familiar community within CHHS was enticing.I thought it would be exciting, not only to be part of something theyre developing, Lieberman explains, but also a hospital system that has more resources than I was accustomed to. The proximity to his home and the quality of staff at Concord Hospital Orthopaedics - Laconia and CHHS made the decision even more clear. It was an opportunity I couldnt pass up, and I have not been disappointed. In addition to advanced medical equipment, Lieberman is grateful to have access to critical care doctors, infectious disease specialists, and a wide range of other dedicated medical professionals within CHHS.A self-described optimistwho went into medicine to help people, Lieberman praises CHHSs commitment to excellence, Barbara Coons and Glenn Lieberman, MD noting that they strive to be better and to do better, and they have the resources there to do soand I really believe the patients come first. For Lieberman, having patients like Coons follow him carries deep personal meaning. As a first-generation college graduate whose parents gave everything they could for their children, hes humbled by the trust his patients place in him. For me to be able to have somebody entrust me with their care means more than anything, Lieberman says. Its an affirmation of what my parents always instilled in me.12 CONCORD HOSPITAL HEALTH SYSTEM |Quality & Safety: Our Foundation'
