b'NURSING WITHIN THE CARDIOVASCULAR INSTITUTE The Cardiovascular Institute combined various separate cardiovascular departments and specialties into one service line in March of 2020. The Cardiovascular Institute, including the clinics in Concord and Laconia, Cardiovascular Services in Concord and Laconia, Interventional Radiology in Concord and Laconia as well as the cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery teams are working diligently, collaboratively and with incredible dedication to provide comprehensive and unified care to our community. We continue to grow in our collaborative approach to provide comprehensive cardiovascular clinical care using a one door approach. Our people are our most important asset and we work collaboratively as nurses, medical assistants, technologists, patient care coordinators and exercise physiologists in both inpatient and outpatient arenas to provide preventive, acute and chronic care services to our community. The team members are too numerous to mention as the care of a cardiovascular patient is a total team sport, requiring the experience and expertise of so many. The combination of Concord Hospital,Concord Hospital - Laconia and Concord Hospital - Franklin has afforded us more opportunity to meet each other and share best practices across the system. Our front line leaders collaborated with information technology for hundreds of hours in 2022 to standardize cardiovascular platforms. We now look forward to integrating our clinical protocols, documentation, and communication plans over this upcoming year. Here are some updates from across our system regarding the fantastic work our front line teams do every day for our patients! Intensive Care Team I am profoundly thankful for the highly dedicated, caring and professional nurses I have the privilege of working with every day. We have a truly wonderful staff who serve a critical role in providing the highest possible quality of care for our patients! Thank you from the bottom of my myocardium for all that you do! Michael Ferguson, MD, FACCThe Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experiences high census and high acuity frequently. To help support these patient needs and develop our people, we completed training on Progressive Care Unit (PCU) about managing arterial lines and vasoactive drips. The immediate care of post transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter mitral valve repair (TMVR), Carotid Endarterectomy, and vascular patients on PCU and 4 East is now standard practice as needed. This innovation involved hours of nursing time and leading teams through change but we were committed to meeting our patients needs. The collaboration between PCU, ICU, Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Transfer Center was great. I applaud the willingness of the nurses on PCU and 4 East to learn the needs of this population of patients. THANK YOU to the entire team! It is a pleasure to work with each and every one of you!
