b'NURSING HIGHLIGHTS 2022Progressive Care Team Due to the incredible management and advances in treatment of cardiovascular disease over the past few years, we have seen a lot of growth in our volume on PCU. The journey we went through in regards to responding to this need is remarkable. Engagement of staff allowed us to provide just in time education with an established, qualified educator to teach us at the bedside. This included training regarding care of ICU level patients, skill level advancements with transduced arterial lines, caring for post vascular patients and structural heart procedures. Our staff have risen to this challenge and gained increased skill levels. We are better coordinated as a team due to improved collaboration. Venues for collaboration include: CV surgery collaborative meeting monthly, PCU Unit Practice committee, cardiac surgery rounding and collaboration at the bedside at transition of care from the cath lab to the PCU. We are happy to be part of this program and are eager to make improvements. With a continued focus on education and communication, we will support the growth of this program and all those who work so hard to make it a safe place to heal.
