b'21Dr. Alexandru VaidaSince joining Concord Hospital Health System in 2018, Alexandru Vaida, MD, and his wife, a nurse practitioner, have been active participants in social events for the health system and supporting the financial needs of the organization. It came as a pleasant surprise to him when Dr. Vaida was asked to join the Trusts Board of Trustees earlier this year.As the only current Concord-based physician serving on the Board, Vaidais evaluating how he can best provide support and guidance to the Trustin meeting the needs of his colleagues, patients, and the health system. Vaida joined Concord Hospital in 2018 as a cardiothoracic and thoracic surgeon. He attended medical school in his native Romania before completing a residency at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and a fellowship at Ohio State University Medical Center. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Vaida is involved in various programs and collaborations at Concord Hospital Health System, including a robotic thoracic surgical practice and a lung nodule clinic. Hes also working on aligning the health system with other large hospitals to use robotic navigational bronchoscopy for early diagnosis and treatment oflung nodules.Prior to joining the Trust Board, Vaida presented to the community on the latest advances in cardiothoracic surgery as part of the Trusts donor lecture series. Though he has worked in larger settings, Vaida loves the family feel at the health system and the opportunity to connect and collaborate with colleagues from the Emergency Department to the Intensive Care Unit to oncology to pulmonology, and many specialties in between. We really enjoy it here, says Vaida, referring to himself, his wife, and their two young children. The health system has created a very good community feel. Theyre looking after their own people, and we are happy to be a part of it.'
